Newquay Cornwall 2013

Club Tour to Newquay Cornwall - 12th to 16th September 2013

Our Headquarters for this years Tour was Daish's, Barrowfield Hotel, Newquay.

After a glorious summer for bowling the weather failed to hold up for one more week-end and provided us with the wettest weekend of the season.

However, the determination and enthusiasm to play both matches on excellent bowling greens prevailed and resulted in an unbeaten weekend.

On the Friday we were entertained by St Austell Bowls Club where Cwmbran won by 15 shots (105 – 90).

Our grateful thanks to the members for their hard work to ensure this match was played and the warm hospitality shown.

On the Saturday the weather relented and provided us with a glorious sunny day which the tour party took advantage and spent an excellent day in St Ives.

On Sunday the rain returned with a vengeance when we played Mylor Bridge Bowls Club Falmouth.

On another very good playing surface, we managed to play 15 ends before the weather closed in, by then Cwmbran ran out winners by 45 shots (97 – 52).

Again our grateful thanks to our hosts for their hard work to ensure the fixture was played and the excellent hospitality shown in the after match social event.

Our thanks also go to our guest tourists who helped to make this tour so successful.

Last but not least our grateful thanks to our Club Secretary Howard Rees and his wife Jill for the unseen hard work that they contributed to the tour to ensure it's success.

As a club we are already looking forward to our next tour in 2014 when we will be touring Eastbourne.
